State police investigate jail deaths

WEST UNION, W.Va. — State police are investigating two deaths that occurred this week at the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.

According to troopers, inmate Anthony Richard Jones, 35, of Clarksburg, was injured and died during two incidents that involved multiple inmates. The death is being investigated as a murder.

There’s also a malicious wounding investigation underway after a second inmate identified as William Adams III, 50, of Ritchie County, was seriously injured in the same incident. He’s currently hospitalized.

Troopers also said there was a second inmate who died in a separate incident at the jail Tuesday. It appears the death was self-inflicted.
