Soccer regionals lined up Tuesday & Thursday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Regional matchups are set in the WVSSAC state soccer playoffs. Winners of the regional games will advance to the state tournament at the YMCA Youth Sports Complex in Beckley on Nov. 5 & 6.

Class AA-A Boys

Region I – Fairmont Senior 1, Weir 1 (FSHS advances on penalty kicks, 7-6)

Region II – Herbert Hoover 2, Grafton 0

Region III – Charleston Catholic 5, PikeView 0

Region IV – Point Pleasant 1, Scott 0

State semifinals (Friday, November 5):

No. 4 Herbert Hoover (18-3-3) vs. No. 1 Point Pleasant (21-1-2) , 9:30am

No. 3 Fairmont Senior (14-3-4) vs. No. 2 Charleston Catholic (16-3-2), 30 minutes after

(Championship set for Nov. 6, 9:30am)

 

Class AA-A Girls 

Region I – Oak Glen 3, East Fairmont 1

Region II – Philip Barbour 4, Herbert Hoover 0

Region III – Charleston Catholic 6, Shady Spring 0

Region IV – Winfield 0, Point Pleasant 0 (Winfield advances 5-4 on penalty kicks)

State semifinals (Friday, November 5):

No. 4 Oak Glen (16-5) vs. No. 1 Charleston Catholic (17-3-2), 4:30pm

No. 3 Philip Barbour (15-3-1) vs. No. 2 Winfield (15-2-4), 30 minutes after

(Championship set for Nov. 6, 45 minutes after boys final)

Region II – Spring Mills 2, Washington 0

Region III – George Washington 3, Woodrow Wilson 1

Region IV – Cabell Midland 1, Parkersburg South 0

No. 4 Spring Mills (13-2-3) vs. No 1 George Washington (19-1-3), 10 a.m.

No. 3 Cabell Midland (18-5) vs. No. 2 Wheeling Park (20-1-1), 30 minutes after
