Beckley storage facility damaged in Wednesday fire

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Significant damage is reported following a large fire at a storage building in Beckley.

The flames broke out Wednesday afternoon at U-Haul Moving & Storage on Ragland Rd.

Beckley Fire Department Captain Ed Thompson said flames were showing when crews arrived on the scene.

“Initial reports indicate that there were roofers on top of the building that may have caught some roofing material on fire and it extended to other areas of the building,” Thompson said.

The building that burned had several occupied in-door storage units.

A damage estimate was not immediately available.

There were no injuries reported.
