UPDATE: More information released in connection with Weston head-on crash

WESTON, W.Va. — A man was killed and several people, including children, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon near Weston.

According to state police, the vehicles collided head-on on Georgetown Road outside of Weston at about 2:20 p.m.

Troopers said Charles Junior Wolfe, 65, of Weston, was driving one of the vehicles. He was thrown from the vehicle after the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers arriving on the scene used fire extinguishers to put out an engine fire in the second vehicle that was being driven by a mother with four children under the of 11 inside. Troopers provided first aid to the five until EMS crews arrived on the scene.

Troopers said the five suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken by helicopter and ambulances to area hospitals.

An investigation into what caused the crash continues.
