Officer-involved shooting in Hardy County

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — A man is dead and a Grant County sheriff’s deputy is hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting that took place Friday in Hardy County.

According to state police, the deputy is in stable condition after being shot during the incident. The shooting suspect, Jeremy Berg, 43, of Maysville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident took place near the Hardy-Hampshire county line.

State police said further details would not be released at this time.

The State Police, Moorefield Detachment is leading the investigation.
