One dead in Upshur County crash

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Authorities in Upshur County said one person was killed in a head-on collision Wednesday morning between a dump truck and passenger vehicle.

The collision occurred on state Route Route 20 near the intersection of Shumaker Road at about 5 a.m.

Upshur County sheriff’s deputies said the driver of the dump truck lost control of the vehicle and collided with an oncoming car. The person in the car was killed. The driver of the dump truck was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The names of those involved haven’t yet been released. The Upshur County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation.
