Fairmont State to host WVSSAC robotics championship Monday

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A statewide robotics championship kicks off Monday in Fairmont.

The 2022 West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission (WVSSAC) Robotics State Championship will take place beginning at 9 a.m. at the Fairmont State University Feaster Center.

This will be the first state tournament since the WVSSAC officially recognized robotics as a co-curricular activity in 2021.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson will be in attendance.

A number of key players have worked to make this tournament become a reality including Dave Lavery and the NASA Robotics Alliance Project, the NASA Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Education Resource Center (ERC), former IV&V Program Director Gregory Blaney and current Director Wes Deadrick, and WVSSAC President Bernie Dolan.
