West Virginia (31-20) racked up 15 hits in a 15-4 win over Kansas State Thursday evening at Monongalia County Ballpark/Wagener Field. The Mountaineers jumped out to a 7-0 lead after scoring two runs in the first inning and five more in the third.
Five Mountaineers had multi-hit games. JJ Wetherholt went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and three runs batted in. Austin Davis, Victor Scott, Nathan Blasick and Dayne Leonard had two hits apiece. Kevin Dowdell hit a three-run home run in a seven-run eighth inning for the Mountaineers.
Jacob Watters (3-6) earned the win on the mound for West Virginia. He allowed two runs in five innings.
The three-game series continues Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.
