Body of Virginia man found in Greenbrier County

ANTHONY, W.Va. — A Virginia man’s body has been found in Greenbrier County.

The body of James Courtney Simpson, Jr., 58, of Covington, Va. was discovered lying in the parking lot of the boat launch at Anthony on the Greenbrier River, according to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office.

The discovery was made at around 7:22 a.m. Saturday.

West Virginia State Police, White Sulphur Springs EMS and the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene.

Simpson’s body was taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office to the Office in Charleston for an autopsy to determine cause of death.

Lt. G.R. Workman of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
