St. Marys extends their season with 15-5 win over Midland Trail

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — St. Marys pounded out 13 hits en route to a 15-5 (5 inning) win over Midland Trail in a Class A state tournament elimination game at Little Creek Park.

The Blue Devils erased a 2-1 deficit in the second inning by scoring 13 unanswered runs. A five-run fifth inning broke the game open and allowed the run rule to be put into effect. Zoey Winland, Ella Smith, Ava Giovinazzo, Ava Childers and Ella Bullman all had multi-hit games for SMHS (20-9).

The Blue Devils will face the loser of the Wahama-Petersburg game Thursday at 9:45 a.m. in an elimination game. Midland Trail’s season ends at 13-12.
