SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Hours after needing 11 innings to defeat John Marshall, Jefferson made quicker work in the winners bracket final of the Class AAA state tournament.
The Cougars (29-5) defeated Lincoln County 8-0 in 6 innings in the fourth game of the Class AAA double-elimination tournament. Jefferson needs just one win in the championship round, which starts Thursday at 2 p.m., to claim the state title. The Cougars will face the winner of the elimination game between Lincoln County (24-5) and John Marshall (22-9). That contest will begin at 9:30 a.m.
