Brooke County fire claims 2 lives

WELLSBURG, W.Va. — Two men died in a house fire in Brooke County Thursday morning.

The blaze occurred at a house on Northview Road in Wellsburg.

Authorities said the men weren’t able to make their way out of the burning home. Their remains were recovered about six hours after the fire started.

Two other people were able to escape the burning house. They suffered burn injuries and were taken to the burn center in Pittsburgh.

There was nothing left of the structure.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze. There was no early word on what may have started it.
