MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The roster for the WVU alumni basketball team Best Virginia is nearly complete. Jevon Carter has been named as an assistant coach for head coach James Long. The roster announcements were made at The Tournament website.
Carter recently wrapped up his fourth season in the NBA. He played for the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks in the 2021-2022 season. In 66 games, Carter averaged 13.7 minutes and 4.2 points per game. It was previously announced that Morgantown’s two-time state champion head coach Dave Tallman will return as an assistant coach.
Three additional players were added to the Best Virginia roster. 2020 WVU graduate Jermaine Haley, D’Angelo Hunter and Kaleb Wesson are the eighth, ninth and tenth players to make the list. Haley has played professionally in Germany and most recently in his home country of Canada. Hunter played at West Virginia in the 2017-2018 season before transferring to Nicholls State. He played this past season in Mexico. Wesson played collegiately at Ohio State from 2017-2020. The 6-foot-10 power forward plays professionally in Israel.
Devin Ebanks, Jamel Morris, Jaysean Paige, John Flowers, Juwan Staten, Kevin Jones and Tanner McGrew were named to the Best Virginia roster previously.
The Charleston regional of The Basketball Tournament returns to the Coliseum and Convention Center from July 24-27. For the second year in a row, Best Virginia and the Marshall alumni team Herd That will both compete in the regional. Both teams have 3-2 all-time records in TBT play.
