MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia’s men’s basketball team will play 12 non-conference games before jumping into Big 12 play, as revealed Friday with the release of the schedule for the upcoming season.
The Mountaineers open on Monday, November 7 by welcoming Mount St. Mary’s. A trip to Pitt follows, and following home games against Morehead State and Penn, the Mountaineers head to Portland for what will almost certainly be three games against high-profile opponents, starting with a Thanksgiving contest against Purdue.
A trip to Xavier in the Big 12-Big East Battle starts the December portion of the schedule, which also features four straight games at the Coliseum against Navy, UAB, Buffalo and Stony Brook.
West Virginia jumps into Big 12 play on New Year’s Eve at Kansas State and stays on the road that weekend to then face Oklahoma State on January 2.
The Mountaineers will welcome Kansas on January 7 for the Big 12 home opener, while the final home game comes March 4 against Kansas State.
