Man charged after barricading himself under Huntington residence

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A man faces charges after barricading himself under a porch of a Huntington home on Tuesday.

According to authorities, 50-year-old Dwayne Howard had left home confinement around 11:15 a.m. after removing his home confinement bracelet. Officers attempted to retrieve him, but Howard threatened authorities with a gun. Howard led officers on a pursuit and made his way under a porch of a Fourth Avenue residence.

Police negotiated with Howard for five hours.

Howard faces a felony escape charge and other charges. He was taken to the Western Regional Jail.
