HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huntington businesses and residents impacted by the May 6th flood are eligible to apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
A disaster declaration approved by the SBA covers Cabell County and surrounding counties of Lincoln, Mason, Putnam and Wayne. Gov. Jim Justice submitted a request for a disaster declaration last month.
The storm dumped up to four inches of rain, mostly in the Enslow Park and South Side neighborhoods of Huntington, and damaged more than 100 homes. A man died being swept away by floodwaters in Milton.
The filing deadline to return applications for property damage is Nov. 14th. The deadline to return economic injury applications is June 15, 2023.
The SBA has a Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Huntington to assist those affected by the disaster.
Residents may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application through the SBA’s website and should apply under SBA declaration # 17624.
Application forms can also be obtained by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or emailing DisasterCustomerService@sba.gov.
Mail-in applications are also being accepted. The form can be downloaded from sba.gov/disaster. Completed applications should be mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.
