Name released in Putnam County fatal crash

RED HOUSE, W.Va. — Police in Putnam County have released the name of the woman killed in a Wednesday afternoon crash near Red House.

Rachel Karson, 36, was a passenger in a vehicle that left the road and slammed into a utility pole. The driver was injured but was out of the hospital by Thursday afternoon.

Putnam County deputies said speed appears to have been a factor.

An investigation continues.
