West Virginia received a commitment Tuesday night from quarterback Sean Boyle of Charlotte Catholic High School (N.C.) toward its 2023 recruiting class.
Boyle had previously been committed to Charlotte, but announced Sunday his intention to decommit — the same day the 49ers fired now ex-head coach Will Healy.
Before Charlotte parted ways with Healy, Boyle held offers from West Virginia and Rutgers, along with Memphis, South Florida, Arkansas State, Connecticut and James Madison.

Through the first seven games of his 2022 season, Boyle completed 69-of-95 passes for 1,190 yards with 11 touchdowns and one interception.
He also played extensively at Charleston Catholic each of the previous two seasons. As a junior, Boyle was 52-of-90 for 800 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions. He hit on 50-of-85 passes for 748 yards with 10 touchdowns and five picks as a sophomore.
After his junior season, Boyle committed to Charlotte. He is considered a 3-star prospect by 247 Sports and Rivals.
West Virginia previously had a commitment for its 2023 class from quarterback Raheim Jeter of Spartanburg, S.C. The Mountaineers opted to part ways with Jeter and he’s committed to East Carolina since.
Boyle is the Mountaineers’ 18th commit and lone quarterback in the 2023 class.
