HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huntington Police shot a man early Sunday morning after he allegedly threatened authorities with a handgun outside a convenience store.
Luis Gonzalez, 47, is recovering from non-life threatening injuries after the incident at the corner of 8th Street and 9th Avenue at around 1:30 a.m.
Police said Gonzalez had threatened Cabell County EMS personnel with a handgun and then fled the area on foot.
A Huntington Police K-9 unit tracked Gonzalez to the 900 block of 13th Street. Gonzalez presented the gun in front of officers, which resulted in an officer shooting the man.
Medical care was provided to Gonzalez until Cabell County EMS arrived and transported him to a local hospital.
None of the officers sustained any injuries.
Gonzalez will be charged with multiple felony counts of wanton endangerment once he is released from the hospital.
An investigation continues.
