Deadly multi-vehicle wreck in Bluefield under investigation

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — One man died and seven others were injured following a multi-vehicle wreck that brought traffic to a standstill Thursday in Bluefield.

The crash involved four vehicles at the intersection of Route 460 and Maryland Avenue. It happened at around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman was airlifted to Roanoke, Va., and six others were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic was stalled in both eastbound and westbound lanes for a brief time Thursday afternoon.

The Bluefield Police Department is investigation the cause of the wreck.

Names of those involved have not been released.
