Two charged in Kanawha County abduction

DUNBAR, W.Va. — Two Kanawha County residents, including a convicted sex offender, face charges of abducting an 11-year old child.

State Police were called to a home in Dunbar Monday evening when the girl was reported missing around 11:30 p.m. Witnesses reported seeing the child leave the home that evening with a man and wonan, one of whom was a registered sex offender. The victim and both suspects were spotted a short time later in the area of 17th Street in Dunbar.

The suspects were taken into custoday without incident. Charged are David McCallister, 20, of Charleston and Jada McCallister,18, of Dunbar. They each face charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, child neglect with risk of bodily injury, and abduction of a child near a school under age 16.

David McCalllister is a registered sex offender for a previous conviction of the sexual abuse of a seven year old.

Troopers said the victim did not suffer any injuries in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
