FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — A Raleigh County woman is being sentenced on charges related to felony drug crimes.
Heather Hewitt, 42 and formerly of Prosperity was sentenced by Fayette County Circuit Judge Thomas Ewing for felony charges of conspiracy to deliver fentanyl and more than fifty grams of meth, along with delivery of fentanyl.
Ewing sentenced Hewitt for 60 years in prison for the conspiracy conviction and 6 to 30 years of for the delivery of fentanyl conviction. She was also fined $25,000.
When making his decision, Ewing noted Hewitt was the leader of a major drug trafficking group that brought in out-of-state drug dealers to expand the network into Fayette County, further noting the harm that it caused to the community.
The Central Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force has been tracking the drug trafficking organization Hewitt was leading since June of 2021, where they found she was majorly responsible for the distribution of large quantities of drugs between August of 2021 to February of 2022.
Hewitt must now serve 21 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
