Building burns after struck by a truck in Marion County

BAXTER, W.Va. — A building in Marion County incurred major damage on Friday when a truck struck the side of the structure.

Investigators say the truck was backing up to dump a load of gravel near the building around 6 a.m. Friday. However, the trucker apparently misjudged his distance and hit the building. The impact caused a natural gas line to break and then explode.

Nobody was in the building at the time of the incident. The fire took several hours to contain and caused heavy damage.

An investigation continues.
