Morgantown man charged in Friday fatal accident on Route 7

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Morgantown man has been arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal accident on Route 7 in Richard Friday.

Troopers attempted to stop driver Daniel Emerson, 28, and a woman in his car for not wearing seatbelts just at before 11 a.m.

Troopers said Emerson crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming ambulance. The woman in his car was killed.

Emerson fled on foot after the crash. A trooper pursued Emerson for a short period before returning to the scene of the crash to find the woman dead at the scene.

Emerson was apprehended later inside a home on Pixler Hill Road and was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident causing death.

He is currently in North Central Regional Jail on a $250,000 bond.

No other information has been released.
