Man dead after Upshur County fire

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — A man is dead after an early morning fire in Upshur County.

Fire crews responded to the blaze in the 2000 block of Turkey Run Road just north of Buckhannon around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators said damage to the home was severe and flames completely consumed the structure.

The victim was discovered after the fire was out. It’s believed to be a 54-year old man who lived at the home. Neighbors and relatives indicated the man lived alone. His body was sent to the state Medical Examiner’s office for positive identification.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
