December trial date scheduled in Kanawha County double murder case

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man charged with murdering two of his girlfriend’s family members pleaded not guilty to his charges during his formal arraignment Friday .

Markus Guy, 32, of Charleston, pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder before Kanawha County Circuit Judge Maryclaire Akers, and Akers set his trial date for Dec. 2.

Guy allegedly killed Alisha Carnifax, 39, and Koda Jarrett, 14, in their St. Albans home on Feb. 7. Deputies found the bodies when Guy and his girlfriend, Shelby Frazier, reported the deaths. Carnifax was Frazier’s mother and Jarrett was her brother.

Autopsies showed both Carnifax and Jarrett were shot multiple times.

Guy remains in the South Central Regional Jail without bail.
