MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Take a look around West Virginia with some of the notable results in Week 1. Defending champions Martinsburg, Fairmont Senior and Williamstown all collected victories.
Class AAAA
Martinsburg 66, Ballou, D.C. 0 — The Bulldogs collected their 14th consecutive victory with a shutout win over Ballou, D.C. Former Martinsburg H.S. and Shepherd quarterback Tyson Bagent was on hand. Bagent is entering his second season with the Chicago Bears. MHS will host Huntington in Week 2.

Huntington 38, Hurricane 35 — A blocked field goal in the final seconds allowed Huntington to preserve a three-point win over MSAC rival Hurricane. Tayveon Wilson and Keegan Sack each scored a pair of touchdowns for the Highlanders while Jamari Tubbs added another score. Jordan Price’s field goal proved to be the winning margin.
Noah Vellathiambi tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Sha’lik Hampton for the Redskins.
Wheeling Park 35, Parkersburg South 14 — Sophomore signal caller Jay Bordas tossed three touchdown passes for Wheeling Park in his varsity starting debut as they emerged victorious in the battle of the Patriots.
Class AAA
Bridgeport 77, Buckhannon-Upshur 0 — The Indians set a school record for points in a single game while collecting a pair of special teams touchdowns. Josh Love rushed for three touchdowns in the victory.
Class AA
Williamstown 47, Ravenswood 7 — Lynken Joy racked up 246 total yards and scored four touchdowns as the two-time defending Class A state champions from Williamstown defeated Ravenswood. WHS rushed for 492 yards. Cooper Martin added a touchdown reception for the ‘Jackets.
Roane County 36, Shady Spring 12 — Lane Watson rushed for 184 yards and added a kickoff return for a touchdown as the Raiders prevailed in their season opener. Clay Walker added a pair of rushing touchdowns for Roane.
Class A
Clay-Battelle 44, Hundred 6 — Maverick Gum racked up 90 rushing yards and three touchdowns for the Cee-Bees as Aaron LaPoe won his debut game as the CBHS head coach.
Pendleton County 27, Greenbrier West 21 — Colton Roberson reeled in a pair of touchdown receptions as the Wildcats knocked off the defending Class A state runners-up in Franklin.
