Officer-in-training faces felony destruction of property charges in Preston County

BRANDONVILLE, W.Va. — A Kingwood police officer is accused of discharging a firearm Saturday and damaging fiber optic facilities.

Preston County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the Brandonville area Saturday and found Chase Waugh, 21, of Bruceton Mills, had just fired multiple shots. The shots did more than $2,500 in damage to fiber optic facilities owned by Prodigi, authorities said.

Waugh has been charged with felony destruction of property and is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Waugh is in training at the West Virginia State Police Academy on behalf of the Kingwood Police Department.
