CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The drive home from the Thanksgiving holiday weekend could be slippery in some parts of West Virginia.
The National Weather Service has placed nearly half of the state’s 55 counties under a Winter Weather Advisory beginning late Saturday night through early Monday morning.
The counties under the advisory include Wayne. Cabell, Mason, Jackson, Lincoln, Putnam, Kanawha. Roane, Calhoun, Mingo. Clay, Braxton, Gilmer, Lewis, McDowell, Upshur, Fayette, Nicholas, Webster, Pocahontas, Randolph. Logan, Boone, Wyoming and Raleigh counties.
According to meteorologists, the lower elevations will see up to two inches of snow between 11 p.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. Monday. Some areas of Raleigh, Fayette and Nicholas counties could see 2 to 4 inches and the eastern mountain counties including Pocahontas and Randolph counties, 3 to 6 inches.
“Slick conditions may affect holiday travel late tonight through Sunday evening,” the advisory said.
