First Beckley city manager resigns less than two months into job

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Beckley’s Michael Resare has officially resigned from his duties, 59 days after being sworn in as the first city manager.

The news comes after Beckley City Council and Resare negotiated an agreement. Resare, who came to Beckley from Arizona, will receive four months of severance pay and an additional month of salary and benefits.

Also under the agreement, the city and Resare have both agreed to make no further negative comments about one another,

Resare’s resignation is effective immidiately.

Beckley officials have not announced any developments in finding its next city manager.
