Suspect arrested over Logan County fire

SWITZER, W.Va. — A Cabell County man faces charges of setting a fire in Logan County.

State Police arrested Steven Mitchem, 36, of Barboursville, W.Va. after a fire broke out on a hillside near the community of Switzer back on Monday.

Troopers along with the Logan Fire Department and teams from the West Virginia Division of Forestry responded to the fire which burned not only the hillside, but a pair of abandoned structures.

Mitchem is charged with setting fire to the lands of another. He’s lodged in the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden, W.Va
