Man shot after trying to enter another man’s home forcefully; later charged with burglary

BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. –A man is in custody after allegedly forcefully entering another man’s home in Boone County.

According to Boone County Sheriff’s Office, they were called to a shooting around 10:30 a.m. Thursday on Hurricane Branch Road.

When officers arrived on scene the homeowner told them that he had shot Billy Wheatley, 43, after an altercation where the suspect had tried entering the man’s home.

Wheatley was found in his own residence on the same road and was taken to a hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound. He was later released to deputies and is now charged with burglary.
