CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Patrick Morrisey says he has the final 40 bills from the legislative session “under close review.”

Morrisey posted on X Sunday night that he and his staff were researching the bills to “see whether there are adequate arguments to approve these bills to determine whether they should become law.”

Morrisey also had a note for lawmakers in future sessions when he is governor.

“For the future, folks should know that if your bill costs taxpayers money and you haven’t provided an offset (a saver) for your proposed program, the odds of your initiative getting approved will be slim,” Morrisey said. “We work for the taxpayers and should never forget that fact!! Taxpayers must be respected!!!”

Morrisey has already signed 161 bills into law. He said 48 other bills have been approved and he will sign them in the coming days.
