Teen killed, 2 hurt in I-68 crash near West Virginia state line

McHENRY, Md. — A Virginia teenager was killed and two other teenagers injured when the car they were in slammed into the rear of a tractor trailer Saturday night on Interstate 68 near the West Virginia/Maryland state line.

The collision, which occurred at around 7:20 p.m. in Garrett County, Maryland, caused the driver of the passenger vehicle to close control. The car rolled ejecting a 19-year-old passenger from Ashburn, Va., who died at the scene.

Police said the driver, a 19-year-old of Waterford, Va., and a second passenger, 18-year-old passenger, of Ashburn, Va., were injured and are being treated at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Maryland State Police they aren’t sure what caused the passenger to run into the rear of the eastbound tractor-trailer.

An investigation into the crash continues.
