MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — University High School rising senior punter Jimmy Gregg has verbally committed to compete at Syracuse University. Gregg made the announcement on social media Monday.

Gregg is listed as the top national recruit at punter in the Class of 2026 according to the recruiting database at 247sports.com. He also held scholarship offers from Marshall, North Carolina State, Purdue, Syracuse and West Virginia. Penn State also showed significant interest in Gregg.
Gregg was a guest on the Citynet Statewide Sportsline last week. During that appearance, Gregg said WVU and Syracuse were his favorites among the schools that offered scholarships. Check out the interview in its entirety at here.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Gregg averaged 42.7 yards per punt in his junior season with the Hawks in 2024. 21 of those punts were pinned inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. Gregg earned Class AAAA honorable mention all-state status last season.

Gregg is the third Class of 2026 in-state player to accept a scholarship offer from a Power 4 Conference program. Huntington’s Tayveon Wilson is committed to play at Clemson while Xavier Anderson of Spring Mills recently committed to Cincinnati.
Also on Monday, Huntington rising senior lineman Mason Ramsey accepted a scholarship offer to compete at Marshall University.
