Juvenile dead in weekend shooting in Greenbrier County

GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va. — A juvenile is dead after a weekend shooting in Greenbrier County.

Sheriff Bart Baker reported deputies and EMS were dispatched to a home in the Clintonville area of Greenbrier County around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. On the way to the call, emergency officials learned there was a juvenile gunshot victim involved.

Upon arrival, EMS attempted life saving measures, but those were unsuccessful and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Baker did not release the name of the victim or their age.

The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Team was activated and responded to the scene to process the residence. Four other juveniles were identified as being present in the home and three of them were in the same room when the incident occurred.

The four juveniles were taken to the Sheriff’s Department and interviewed with their parents present. The Greenbrier County Prosecutors office and Public Defenders Office were also involved in those interviews due to the age of those being questioned. All four were eventually released to the custody of their parents following interviews and collection of evidence and no charges were filed.

The investigation is ongoing. Names of the four surviving juveniles were also not released.
