FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Authorities have declared an emergency and plan to demolish a partially collapsed building on Adams Street.
The City of Fairmont has declared the structure at 200 Adams Street an imminent danger due to the location, condition and potential threat to public safety.
It will be torn down soon.
No injuries were reported when a significant portion of the vacant building collapsed Friday at around 1:30 a.m.
In response, the city closed that portion of Monroe Street and it remains closed currently.
The city says the building was previously condemned and the owner was issued a raze or repair order on Aug. 18.
