One dead in Marmet fire preceded by “loud booms”

MARMET, W.Va. – One person is dead following a fire in Marmet that officials say was preceded by “loud booms.”

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office indicated the call came in for a structure fire on Creek Alley around 7pm on Saturday.

Efforts to fight the fire led to the closure of Lens Creek Road as units from the Kanawha Coutny Sheriff’s Office, Marmet Fire Department, and Chesapeake Fire Department responded to the scene.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshals Office is investigating.
