State trooper struck by train in Logan County

LOGAN COUNTY, W/Va. – A West Virginia state trooper is recovering after their cruiser was struck by a slow-moving train in Logan County.

Logan County 911 said the collision occurred at the intersection of Water Street and Dingess Street when a CSX train hit the cruiser as the trooper tried to stop. West Virginia State Police indicated the incident was the result of winter weather conditions.

The cruiser suffered minimal damage and the trooper, as well as everyone on board the train, are expected to be alright.

The incident is under investigation.
