Fred Persinger


Fred Persinger joined the MetroNews Radio Network fulltime in October 2001, but has been a member of the MetroNews family for over 20 years. A native of Beckley, Persinger started his radio career at WWNR in Beckley and later moved to WTNJ in Mount Hope. For 27 years he served as voice of the Beckley Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles football and basketball teams. A veteran broadcaster who has called state tournament action in football, basketball and baseball, Fred has become known as the voice of high school sports in West Virginia.

In addition to his duties as affiliate relations director for MetroNews, Persinger also serves as host of The Point After, MetroNews Tee2Green, High School Gamenight, High School Football Scoreboard, High School Football Daily Report, and High School Basketball Roundup.

An avid golfer, Fred resides in Hurricane with his wife Jan. They are the parents of two sons, Fred II and Shawn.
