Madonna’s Comis commits to UMass

Madonna quarterback Ross Comis, the MetroNews Player of the Year, has committed to play college football at UMass.

WEIRTON, W.Va. — Madonna quarterback Ross Comis officially announced on Monday through Twitter that he will play football next season at UMass.

Comis had been on a visit this past weekend after receiving a full scholarship offer from the Minutemen. UMass finished this past season with a 1-11 record out of the Mid-American Conference.

Mark Whipple was officially hired earlier this month as the program’s new head coach – he previously led UMass for six seasons back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, finishing with a record of 49-26.

Comis, meanwhile, finished this past season with 3,630 total offensive yards and 57 combined touchdowns (1,942 rushing and 35 TDs, 1,688 passing and 22 TDs).

The senior signal caller had just four interceptions on the season, leading the Blue Dons to a 14-0 record and Class A state championship. He was named the MetroNews Player of the Year as well.
