HUNTINGTON, W.Va.— On the heels of news breaking that Marshall Basketball Coach Tom Herrion and Marshall were parting ways, it appears The Herd is also losing its young, standout point guard.

Redshirt Freshman Kareem Canty announced through his Twitter account that he would not be returning to Marshall next season.

Canty had been a bright spot for what was otherwise a dismal season for The Herd. Canty was named Third Team All-Conference and to the C-USA All-Freshmen Team. He averaged 16.4 points per game and 5.7 assist per game. Canty also became just the 39th player in the program’s history to score 500 points in a single season.

  • Mister Man

So, as he posted, he won't be returning back.

  • Mister Man

I guess he thinks he will do what Kane did. I don't think so. But, it could happen.

Good luck to you Mr. Canty.

He has pulled this no once, not twice but many times over the last few years. If he doesn't want to be here then see ya.

I remember Shaq Johnson tweeted about the samething when Jones left. I lost all respect for him at that time and could never root for him again. And I'll be the same way with Canty.

Who knows if Brantley stays, Canty may not even be the best PG at Marshall come next season.
