WASHINGTON, D.C. — A number of ceremonies are scheduled for Friday across West Virginia to mark Veterans Day.
Members of West Virginia’s congressional delegation released statements Thursday honoring veterans.
U.S. Senator Joe Manchin
“I am pleased with the progress we are making for our state and nation’s Veterans, but we’ve got more work to do. Too many of our Veterans are homeless, jobless, and without access to adequate healthcare. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues on the Veterans Affairs and Armed Services Committees to make sure that this country keeps its promises to our Veterans and provides our service members with the care, benefits and services they have earned and deserve.”
U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito
“On Veterans Day, as we honor the men and women who have served our great nation, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those who put their lives at risk to protect our country and our values. As the daughter of a World War II veteran, the well-being of this community is an issue close to my heart. I am committed to making sure the voices of our veterans are heard. I encourage all West Virginians to join me today and every day in thanking a service member for their bravery and selfless service,”
Third District Congressman Evan Jenkins
“On Veterans Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who have defended our freedom at home and overseas, and we remember those who never came home. But let our remembrances not be limited to just one day, may we reflect every day on the cost of freedom and the sacrifices of those who have fought to protect our nation. To each and every veteran, I say thank you, thank you for your service, thank you for your sacrifices, and thank you for the freedoms we enjoy. We owe you a debt we can never repay.”
