The Lunch: How West Virginia made it over the first obstacle

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The scouting reports didn’t necessarily pan out, and the games were tighter than Notre Dame and West Virginia wanted, but survival is the only mission in March.

The Gold & Blue Lunch Reports recaps how the Mountaineers and Irish made it through their NCAA tournament openers to set up Saturday’s Big East throwback.

West Virginia’s new league, the Big 12, is 3-0 so far with four conference teams playing Friday.
