Arrest in Roane County murder case

SPENCER, W.Va. — Authorities arrested a Roane County man Thanksgiving evening and charged him with murder.

Michael John Smith

Michael John Smith, 37, was apprehended at the GoMart in Spencer. He was charged in the death of James Hall, 36, of Spencer. Hall’s body was found in his home last Sunday.

State troopers, Roane County sheriff’s deputies and U.S. Marshals were looking for Smith.

Smith was scheduled to be arraigned by a magistrate Friday. He’s currently being held in the Central Regional Jail without bail.
