UC Names New AD

The University of Charleston announced longtime volleyball coach and associate athletic director Dr. Bren Stevens has been hired to be the university’s new athletic director.

Stevens will replace former athletic director Tom Noiza who held the position for the past 13 years. He died last October after a battle with cancer.

In a news conference on Monday, Stevens said here top priorities are to get the alumni more involved and get a new sports center built. Stevens has held multiple positions at UC including: coaching volleyball and swimming to physical education instructor in 1996, assistant professor of sports administration in 2000 and associate athletic director in 2005.

She coached the Golden Eagles volleyball team for 19 seasons and has a career record of 506-210. Stevens also led UC to the NCAA volleyball tournament seven times and won three conference championships (1997, 2001 and
