East Hardy’s Shinning Star

During the 2012 season, Jamie Miller was the heart of the East Hardy Cougars baseball team. He helped lead the Cougars to a school record 31 wins and his strong performance continued in the West Virginia state baseball tournament.

In East Hardy’s five-inning win against Valley Fayette in the semi-final round, Miller pitched four innings of shutout baseball and struck out seven.

Miller came back on Sunday night in the Class A championship game and hurled three innings of shutout ball to help the Cougars force extra innings, which East Hardy ultimately lost to Madonna.

“It was good to end my career in Charleston with the boys I’ve grown up with since little league,” Miller said.

That may have been the end of Miller’s high school career, but it’s not the end of his baseball career. He has signed to play for Potomac State next season.

Miller says playing for Potomac State head coach Doug Little was too good an opportunity to pass up.

“Coach Little knows how to win games and has a good record,” said Miller. “It’s a good junior college, a good program and they go to the Junior College World Series a lot.”

East Hardy head coach Raymond Snapp says Miller has meant a lot to the program.

“It’s unbelievable how [Miller] has been for us,” said Snapp. “Every time he took the mound you could almost pencil in a win in his career. The kid’s got a lot of talent and I don’t think he’s reached his potential quite yet.”
