Former West Virginia wide receiver Wes Lyons graduated two years ago and he’s been busy since leaving Morgantown. When asked what he’s been up to of late, Lyons had a surprise.
“I’m coming out with a book soon,” he said.
Lyons finished playing for West Virginia after the 2009-10 season. He caught 48 passes in 42 games for the Mountaineers, but never scored a touchdown.
He then spent two training camps and an offseason with the Pittsburgh Steelers before recently being released.
“(The book) just helps everybody understand what I’ve been through and tries to give people the inside scoop on West Virginia and how [loyal] the fans are,” he said.
It’s called ‘Pursue with Patience.’ Lyons said the book will be coming out soon, but it’s not the only thing he’s been up to.
“I started up a little business, too,” he said. “It’s titled ‘Beyond Phenom.’ It’s basically a video-sharing site.”
The website’s about section said it specializes “in personal sports videos and highlights.” It lets new members join and post their own highlight reels. It also has a clothing line of workout shirts.
“We have our unique style, unique brand,” said Lyons. “That’s been getting out there to local high schools.”
Lyons was one of many former Mountaineers who came back to help out with the West Virginia Legends camp this past weekend in Morgantown.
“It’s great networking,” said Lyons. “Just to see one another. It’s like a friendly face whenever you see somebody you know, that you played with.”
