Ski and Snowboard Season To Begin

The 2012-2013 Winter Season will officially begin Wednesday in West Virginia.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Pocahontas County will open for skiers and snowboarders the day before Thanksgiving, the earliest opening at the site in the last ten years.

Resort officials say the goal is to open trails, running from the top to the bottom, at both the Snowshoe and Silver Creek areas.

As of now, Canaan Valley Resort in Tucker County is scheduled to open on December 15th. Timberline Resort, which is nearby, is tentatively set to open on December 13th.

In Raleigh County, Winterplace Resort is expected to open next month as well.
