Robert “Rocky” J. Fitzsimmons has been appointed to a seat in the First District of the West Virginia Senate.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin appointed Fitzsimmons to the position Wednesday to fill the vacancy left by Senator Orphy Klempa. Klempa resigned earlier this month to serve on the Ohio County Commission.
Fitzsimmons received a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington University and a Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University. He currently practices law with Fitzsimmons Law Firm PLLC in Wheeling.
Fitzsimmons will represent the First Senatorial District comprised of Brooke, Hancock, and Ohio counties as well as part of Marshall County.
Fitzsimmons will serve the remainder of Klempa’s term. The appointment is effective immediately.
